Community Workshops

Parenting and Co-parenting Workshop

This workshop is ideal for parents, step-parents, and parents-to-be who are interested in learning about different styles of parenting, discussing the benefits and drawbacks to various disciplining techniques, and improving communication with their children.

Of interest to most parents are ideas on how to manage the ever present juggle between school, meals, extra curricular activities, and their own lives. Additional challenges often present when parents are no longer a couple. Both stress and time management are covered during which time, participants identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and consider influences on their own parenting skills.

Participants have the opportunity to learn about others’ challenges and share their own experiences.

This program is offered over a 3 day period, and a more in-depth 5 day period. Topics covered are:

Individual learning styles (visual, auditory, tactile) are considered in the way material is presented. The group sets the pace of the workshop based on their areas of interest and level of understanding of the material presented (ie. spending more time on some topics and less on others).

An interactive workshop, it is designed to promote discussion, thoughts and ideas.

Note: This program does NOT include child minding services. All children are expected to be cared for, independent of the workshop setting.
